Medicinal plants represent unique biodiversity resources on the African continent contributing immensely to the health and wellness of its population over the centuries. The contributions of the variety of medicinal plants to local economies, cultural integrity, and health care and ultimately the well-being are increasingly being discussed [1]. In Sub-Saharan Africa for example, households in rural areas rely heavily on plant resources for food, fodder, and herbal medicine. The World Health Organization decade old statistics estimated that about 80% of the African population depends on herbal medicines for some aspect of primary health care needs [2]. Inaccessible and unaffordable modern medicines are major factors that still promote the use of medicinal plants among rural Ugandans for their daily health care needs [3].
